Sports Grille

Sports Grille

Why a Sports Grille option?

Playing outdoor sports with eyewear is really different than playing indoor sports with eyewear. Temperature differences between a body performing exercise and cooler outdoor temperatures result in condesation or fogging.

When eyewear fogs, the player's visibility can be decreased while performing sports. This is less than ideal.

So, Impactz Eyewear, has used forward thinking engineering and an innovative design to bring to you a Sports Grille that meets or exceeds ASTM 803 for women's lacrosse and field hockey. The grille is a combination of a lens or protective element, and open air vents. Each grille design is unique to each sport, thus allowing the athlete to change grilles for whatever sport they are playing. Not only is Impactz Eyewear unique with a protective frame and a Sports Grille combination, it's contemporary, keeping pace with today's trends in the fashion eyewear industry. Tough enough to handle to rigors of the game, yet sporty enough to provide comfort and aesthetics all in one. Who could ask for more!

Who can wear a lens less eye protector?

Testing guidelines are set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) not by Impactz Eyewear. Both lacrosse and field hockey require ball impact tests and a stick penetration test. This means the manufacturer not only has to stop the ball from contacting the eye but the stick must be stopped as well. In order to do this, the balls and the stick shapes must be taken into consideration when designing the eyewear. A sports grille design is possible for both these sports but the configuration must reflect the balls and their properties and the sticks and their properties. That is why a sports grille design should be unique for each sport; a true engineering feat. Having a modular system of different eye guards will allow the user to interchange them for whatever sport they play. For racquet sports, the balls are smaller or softer, and there are racquets involved, making the use of a lens or a differently configured sports grille a necessity.

For indoor sports, having a lens in place is not an issue. In fact, lenses used in indoor sports or on clear sunny days outdoors are desirable. Tints can add contrast, cut out overhead lights, and reduce glare of bright sunlight. So having a lens option is a nice choice to have.

LACROSSE AND FIELD HOCKEY PLAYERS CAN USE AN
OPTIONAL LENS AT ANY TIME. LENSES ARE BENEFICIAL.

Protecting the eyes from harmful Ultra Violet rays while playing an outdoor sport is proven to be a benefit to eye health especially with long term exposure to the sun's harmful rays. Certain color tints can also provide an enhanced view of the field, and the ball against the field all while providing the viewer with increased contrast and vision. These tints have been specifically selected and tested for lacrosse and field hockey surfaces and balls. See Lens Options page for more lens information.
