Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I purchase the eyewear?
See our Where to Buy page.

Can your protective be used in all sports?

There are individual testing requirements for different sports. Be sure and check the labels/directions on the eyewear or ask the retailer or manufacturer. Not all protective eyewear can be used in all sports. The manufacturer is required to label the product and tell you what sports it has been tested for.

What if I play both lacrosse and field hockey, can I use the same eyewear?
Yes, the protector can be worn for lacrosse, field hockey, and basketball.

Which is best for outdoor sports, the Field Master 1 Lens or Field Enhancer 1 Lens?
Both can be ideal. It depends on the conditions. For bright sunny days during practice or games the Field Master 1 Lens is a must. The advantage of this lens is that it actually improves and enhances the view of the ball and the field. The Field Enhancer Lens increases contrast. It filters out reds making the greens more green and blues more blue. A simple rub of the Nanofilm anti-fog wipe to the inside of the lens (one wipe good for all season or 12 wipes), and fogging is not an issue. Both offer 100% UV protection, necessary for all outdoor athletes.

There are eye protectors with metal bars, are those better?
Simple, metal bars make a complete blind spots in the visual field. No light passes through them. Polycarbonate, the number one choice for street eyewear, is crystal clear optically and provides a clear, unobstructed vision in all fields of view.

How do I clean my lenses?
Mild soap (dish soap) and water or a certified cleaner for optical lenses sold by an eyecare professional, optical shop or retail outlet can be used. Rub and wipe with a soft cotton cloth - no tissues, no paper towels. Do not use nail polish remover, glass cleaner, any industrial cleaners, alcohol or ammonia based products on the lenses or frame.

My padding is worn out. Can I replace it?
Yes, replacing old or worn padding is essential to comfort and fit. Recommended annually or for each sports season if more than one sport is played in a year. They are sold separately along with frames, lenses, and straps.

How do I prevent my lenses from scratching?
There is a state of the art scratch resistant hard coating applied to the lenses at the factory. However, storage in a soft pouch or the microfiber bag when not being used is best. Also, follow the cleaning instructions. Do not put the eyewear into your duffle or knack sack without putting it first back in the case.

I wear prescription glasses. Can I wear Impactz Eyewear over my glasses?
No. However, you can have your eye glass prescription placed in a special lens adapter that sits between the frame and the impact lens. This special order can be done by contacting the retailer. (OPTION NOT YET AVAILABLE).

I have a small chip in my lens (or frame). Is this OK to use?

No, any defect in the impact lens or frame jeopardizes its integrity. Once jeopardized, the safety performance may be sub-standard. Any chip, crack, dent, bend in the frame or lens warrants replacement. Very scratched lenses are also a weakness in the lens' impact resistance. Replace it as soon as you can.

My eyewear was hit yesterday and looks fine. Is that OK?
NO. You must replace the entire eye protector once impacted. The safety of an impacted portector is not guananteed and according to ASTM labeling must be replaced once impacted.

I want to wash my head strap. Can I do that?

Yes, if you need to, use a scrub brush and mild liquid laundry detergent (Woolite). Rinse in clean water and line dry. Or you could just buy a new one and scratch the washing idea.

My impact lens is very scratched. Can I get this buffed out?

NO, change the lens! Once there are a significant amount of scratches this can cause cracks which may propagate. The lens is now sub-standard as far as safety goes. Scratches also reduce your visual acuity and visibility.
